Although the international protection order does not provide an unlimited benefit for foreigners, the termination and cancellation of international protection is possible under certain circumstances. In this context, the international protection decision has some consequences in terms of the persons who are decided to be protected. These results vary depending on whether people have refugee, conditional refugee or secondary protection status. Likewise, the international protection decision may be terminated or canceled in certain circumstances. These cases are clearly stated in Law No. 6458.
Results of International Protection Decision
The International Protection Status Identity Certificate shall be issued for a period of three years including the foreigner identification number of the applicant when the request for protection is accepted and the status of international protection is granted to those granted refugee status. Owners of conditional refugee or secondary protection status shall receive a one-year International Protection Status Identity Certificate with a foreign identification number. In the same way, a foreigner passport is also issued to the owners of conditional refugee or secondary protection status in accordance with Article 18 of the Passport Law. Rights and Obligations of Foreigners with International Protection
Persons with international protection status are exempt from the principle of reciprocity. In other words, in order for the applicant to be able to benefit from this status, it is not obligatory for the country where he is a citizen to recognize the same status as the international protection status of his country and the rights related to him.
