MEDICAL TOURISM AND ORGAN TRANSPLANTATION
Turkish physicians reached success in medical tourism. Many foreigners are coming to Turkey for organ transplantation. Organ transplantation is not the only option for foreigners. Turkey has a variety of thermal springs. This can also be a choice for tourists who have chronic diseases.

What is organ transplantation? Who can be a donor?
This is a medical surgery that ensures the exchange of an organ from a donor to a receiver. First, minors under 18 cannot be donors according to Turkish Law. Also, selling organs is forbidden. There are specific rules for foreigners who want organ transplantation in Turkey. They should find their donors and travel with him/her to Turkey. In other words, they cannot find the donor here. There is another key point that is transplantation is made just between the receiver and his/her spouse who are married for at least 2 years or blood and beech relatives up to the fourth degree (including the fourth degree).
The person who wants to be a donor should give his/her consent before. If there is no consent from the person, his/her relatives’ express consent is needed for transplantation after the person dies. However, the expression of consent cannot be taken if there is an urgent medical necessity situation. The physician’s duty is to save a life in such a scenario.
